#NationalHolidays and Your Social Media Strategy

You probably already know that social media gives your practice more exposure than ever before, and how you put it to use is the important part. Using a social media strategy calendar is key in marketing your practice, and will assist in taking it to the next level. Having social media ads and showing off your work just isn’t enough anymore!

Celebrating #NationalTacoDay with your social media followers gives your brand a more human and personal touch, and engages you in a global conversation that is already happening. The more engagements that your posts get, the more exposure they have, resulting in clicks to your website, and potentially starting a conversation with your customer base! (Source)

You should choose the days you celebrate wisely, taking care to focus on the ones that suit your business. For example, if you are an upscale restaurant, you are more likely to celebrate Filet Mignon Day with a promotion, instead of Hamburger Day. (Both fall in the same month!)

Social Media Strategy Calendars

The use of social media calendars is a great way to show potential consumers that they’re not just dealing with a company; but rather with real people who share similar interests. Engaging with consumers, establishing a voice, and giving opinions on relevant trends or topics in your market are all things that TOGETHER will allow your company to reach it’s full potential.

There are many tools designed to help your brand stay on trend and assist you in choosing what you put out there! We’ve compiled a list of our favorite yearly calendars that you can use when posting on social media!

1. Twitter’s Major Monthly Events Calendar

2. Awareness Days

3. Days of the Year

4. National Day Calendar

5. Time and Date

So, you’ve decided to hire a marketing company. Smart move (if it’s us at Ortho Marketing, even smarter). But, odds are they can’t do everything without at least a little contribution from your practice. Speaking from the orthodontist marketing company side of things, we want nothing more than to help grow your practice and get it to the top. But, it’s often difficult to do that without your cooperation and some resources from you and your team. These are some fun, easy ways to help your marketing company like Ortho Marketing do their best for your practice:

Photos, photos, and more photos

Facebook and Instagram thrive on photos of you, your team, and your patients (so long as they have signed a photo release form). Especially if you’re not local, your marketing company won’t be able to pop into your office every day to take photos of your team in action. Keep a practice tablet or camera around so that any time there’s a great photo opp, you can snap it and send it to the team at Ortho Marketing or your marketers to use for social media management purposes.

Exciting events and promotions

The more fun stuff you do with your practice and your patients, the more opportunity a marketing company has to promote your practice as friendly and welcoming. When you decide to host an event or promotion (ideas for which your marketers should come up with, too), your orthodontist marketing company can promote on social media, send emails, make in-office props and flyers, etc. But without anything interesting going on, there isn’t much marketing companies like Ortho Marketing can do to show off your practice in a positive, friendly light.

Ask for reviews

Reviews are one of the most important parts of your marketing campaign, especially for the medical field; most searchers go through extensive review research before calling a practice. We know it can be uncomfortable, but you should never let a happy patient depart without first asking for a review. Train your staff to ask for reviews, too, which will not only increase your Google authority, but marketers can then promote your reviews on your website and social media.

Communication

When our account managers reach out to you, it isn’t to waste your time. They probably have valuable information that will help your practice or they need information from you to help them do their jobs. Also, it’s a two-way street – if you have a great idea or a puzzling question, talk to your account manager to get the ball rolling and wheels turning. Whatever the case, open communication between your practice and orthodontic marketing company is crucial for creating a successful marketing campaign.

One of the most important aspects of marketing is being able to showcase what sets your practice apart from the rest. What will motivate someone to travel 30 minutes to your practice instead of 10 minutes to a more local practice? Although it may not seem like it, your orthodontic technology can distinguish your practice as a cut above the rest. Our team at Ortho Marketing has come up with a couple steps to market your practice apart from the others. Take a look:

Step 1: Acquire the latest technology in orthodontia

Although it may seem like no one except orthodontists will understand the difference between how braces work and how Invisalign Teen works, it absolutely matters. Parents getting treatment for their kids and adults getting their own treatment want to know they are being provided the highest, most efficient quality of orthodontic treatment. You’d be surprised at how much adults, especially parents, are willing to invest to ensure they receive the best. So, invest in the latest orthodontic technology, like:

  • iTero scanners/Invisalign technology
  • varying forms or clear braces and self-ligating braces
  • 3D cone beam imaging
  • Custom Smile Design
  • TruDenta

Parents and adults are willing to invest in high quality treatment. Your practice should invest in providing it for them.

Step 2: Frequently update your content

Now that you have all the latest ortho tech, it’s time to let the world know! Take the time to update all your web content with this great news. That means your website, social media, email marketing campaigns, announcements, etc. should be packed with information about your technology. Some ideas to keep potential patients in the loop include:

  • Creating a page on your website to list and explain your practice’s orthodontic technology
  • Announcing on social media each time your practice acquires a new form of ortho tech
  • Design an email announcement to your patients about the new technology

These are only a few ways to use orthodontic technology to market your practice. Keep testing out new ideas!

No two social media platforms are the same. Each outlet is geared to target a specific demographic and audience. But to get the absolute strongest reach for your practice, there are certain types of content, days, and times that should be utilized, each different for every platform. Balancing all of that may seem daunting. That’s why our social media marketing team at Ortho Marketing has come up with a “cheat sheet” for each social media platform you utilize. Take a look at this video with all the tips and tricks, or keep scrolling for the full blog:

Days and Times

Facebook

  • Post 2-5 times per day
  • Early afternoon, around 1:00-4:00 pm or in the evening, from 7:00-10:00 pm
  • If you’ve got a really good post, save it for Thursday or Friday – that’s when the engagement rates are the highest

Instagram

  • Post no more than twice per day (we don’t want to bombard people with photos)
  • Evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm are the best times
  • Weekends can be hit or miss. Since your practice will be reaching out primarily to parents, your content should get traction, but don’t be afraid to experiment with different days and times

Twitter

  • You can be a little more generous with Twitter, tweeting 5-7 times per day
  • Early to mid-afternoons are the best times for Twitter – any times between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm
  • Orthodontic practices like yours should utilize the weekends and Wednesdays

Pinterest

  • Depending on the amount of good content you curate, you can be very generous on Pinterest with up to 30 posts per day
  • Afternoons and evenings, from around 6:00-10:00 pm are the best times for Pinterest traffic
  • The best day to utilize is Saturday, but if you’re going to pin during the week, keep it to night times

Best Practices for Content

When getting ready to post to any of the above social media, or others for that matter, make sure you keep these tips in mind:

  • Do your best to not appear sales-y. That will just deter potential patients from viewing or clicking your content.
  • People need to know your practice is legit in order to trust you. So, try to post content that demonstrates that, like before-and-afters, staff photos, reviews you’ve received, etc.
  • Be a resource. How-to guides, surveys, informative blogs, and the like, secure your practice as the authority in orthodontia.
  • Use your posts to engage with patients. Offer promotions and contests, and post questions that lend themselves to comments, likes, and replies to boost your engagement.
  • Videos! Videos dominate 77% of web traffic, so use videos to show off your practice, offer tips and tricks, and promote contests.
